Hello, 2017

2016 revealed more to me than I could have ever imagined.

New friends that bring me endless joy and laughter.

New memories with old friends that remind me who I am and who I want to be.

New places that remind me how tiny I am and how ginormous the world is.

New classes that challenge me and reveal my strengths.

New projects that allow me to be creative.

New perspectives on my relationships, goals, and values.

To say I am a completely different person from when I started the year is an understatement. After traveling the world and back as well as having one of the most challenging yet rewarding semesters of my life, I have learned extremely important information about myself, the world, and how I can affect it.

As I journaled about the end of this year, I came to the conclusion that this was a year of grounding myself. I discovered my roots, lost them, found them again, challenged them, and restructured them. It’s an ever-changing process, however it’s one that is so important in the discovery of who you are and who you want to be.

I have not solved all of my problems, that’s for sure. I’m figuring out how to be the version of me I want to be in every day life. 2016 has taught me the recognize these challenges and face them head on. I finally have learned how to be fearlessly and authentically myself, and must continually pursue this each and every day.

2017, I hope you bring me more moments that inspire, push, and drive me. I hope I continue to be who I am meant to be and become closer to doing what I am meant to do. My goal for 2016 was to discover how to live a genuine life, which I can gladly say I did. For 2017, my goal is fulfillment. Whether that be from enjoying friendships, pursuing this blog, creating new projects, and/or discovering new ways to make myself happy.

I will leave you with two things. The first is a quote from Rupi Kaur’s book of poetry, Milk and Honey. (I received it for Christmas and it is amazing. Call me whatever stereotype you desire, but you know it’s great work). This is the quote that I feel best wraps up my thoughts on the end of the year (I did Instagram it to make it official soooo). Then, I will show you my goals for 2017. We’ll see what happens after that.

“i thank the universe

for taking

everything it has taken

and giving to me

everything it is giving”

Last but not least, my goals for 2017: (like I said, we’ll SEE)

  • BLOG.
  • Maintain higher standards of good in my life (from food to friends to more than that).
  • Get outside.
  • Get fit (in new and fun ways).
  • Yoga + meditate.
  • Put time aside for reading.
  • Make sure to have time by yourself and cherish it.
  • Continue to ground yourself while also pursuing your dreams.
  • Show more gratitude and appreciation for others.
  • BE with people.
  • Minimize, keep it simple.
  • Make time for new adventures.
  • Be who you want to be, no matter how often that changes. It’ll help you continue to figure out who you are.
  • Pursue and prioritize yourself.
  • Stop comparing yourself to others. This is your journey.
  • ENJOY THE PROCESS.
